Bradóg Youth Diversion Project works to support young people in the north inner city throughout their experiences with the criminal justice system. We work with young people through a model of Early Intervention, young people aged 8-11 years are referred to the Youth Diversion Projects by Parents, Care Givers, Schools, Youth Services, City Connects, afterschool programmes. Our early interventions model focuses on young people who are exposed to high level of crime and or anti-social behaviours in their homes and or communities. Our Youth Diversion Workers, meet young people where they are at with a focus on building a trusting, sustainable relationship with the young person. The aim of the programmes is to use the earls assessment tool to identify the young person level of need and where we can support to build protective factors in a young person’s life to reduce their offending or risk of offending. We do this through evidence based interventions, tailored support plans that address the unique needs of each young person. By engaging them in interventions to reduce their offending behaviour.
Our programmes involve collaboration with families and the community, ensuring a holistic approach to each individua young person’s developmental need. We aim to empower young people to make positive choices and break the cycle of reoffending. Through regular assessments and follow-ups, we adapt our strategies to ensure continuous improvement and support. Ultimately, the Bradóg Youth Diversion Project strives not just to intervene in crises but to inspire hope and build brighter futures for youth in the north inner city. By fostering a sense of belonging and purpose, we work to cultivate a safer community for everyone.
Our Roma Youth Diversion workers, initiated in the North Inner City to support the high number of Roma young people presenting before the Children’s Courts. How we work
Staff members develop positive relationships with young people to understand their individual needs and strengths. In partnership with the young people we create interventions through programmes and activities specifically to address those needs, thus creating an environment where a young person can make informed decisions. The projects offer young participants opportunities for education, employment, and training as well as sport, art, music and other activities
