Bradóg Youth Diversion Project is a community based specialist project which supports young people in Dublin 7 and 1. It seeks to divert young people from becoming involved (or further involved) in anti-social and/or criminal behaviour by providing suitable activities to facilitate personal, positive, social and personal development, civic responsibility and long-term employability prospects.
This work is done through:
- One to one work
- Small group work (as required)
- Mentoring
- Interventions that are planned looking at offending behaviour, substance misuse, peer relations, family relationships, education/training, attitudes, behaviours and leisure time.
- Liaison with relevant agencies to the young person’s needs
- Early Intervention focussing on providing support at the earliest possible stage
How we work
Staff members develop positive relationships with young people to understand their individual needs and strengths. In partnership with the young people we create interventions through programmes and activities specifically to address those needs, thus creating an environment where a young person can make informed decisions. The projects offer young participants opportunities for education, employment, and training as well as sport, art, music and other activities
Who we work with
- Young People age 12 -17 years
- Young people aged between 8-11 years (Early Intervention)
- Families of young people referred
- Past participants (over 18’s)
Young people are referred to the project by
- A Juvenile Liaison Officer
- Community Gardai
- or by other local agencies
- Self-Referral
The young person’s attendance is based on their voluntary participation.
